The National Geographic Society has been exploring and protecting the planet since 1888, and television’s National Geographic Channel continues to promote the power of science, exploration and storytelling to change the world. Our fourth annual weekend of highlights from the channel's programming takes our collaboration online with virtual screenings and Zoom Q&As. Our 2020 series begins with Emmy-winning fan favorite LIFE BELOW ZERO, which captures the extreme lifestyles of Alaskans living off the grid. Two of those Alaskans, Sue Aikens and Ricko DeWilde, join showrunner Joe Litzinger in a virtual discussion.
National Geographic's first fiction series, BARKSKINS, follows New World settlers in the late 1600s; along with showrunner Elwood Reid, series stars Marcia Gay Harden and Christian Cooke will participate in a Zoom discussion about the program. Along with this new show set in the past, National Geographic reaches back to 1980 for a show looking toward the future: COSMOS, hosted by Carl Sagan. Ann Druyan, co-creator of the landmark science series, will join us online for a virtual Q&A.
