Harold Prince + Bob Fosse Double Feature! Actress Deborah Geffner In Person!

Legendary Broadway producer Harold Prince (1928–2019) brought such classic musicals as West Side Story and Cabaret to the stage; he served as the basis for John Lithgow’s character in ALL THAT JAZZ.

Introduction to ALL THAT JAZZ by actress Deborah Geffner, moderated by Steve Peros.
35 mm!

1972, Warner Bros., 123 min, USA, Dir: Bob Fosse

In decadent 1930s Berlin, impulsive and morally liberal agent provocateur Sally Bowles (Liza Minnelli) meets the scholarly and handsome Bryan (Michael York) and the two develop an intimate relationship while unknowingly sharing a bisexual lover. Winner of eight Oscars, including Best Director, Actress and Supporting Actor (Joel Grey, as the Kit Kat Klub's reptilian Master of Ceremonies).

40th Anniversary!

1979, 20th Century Fox, 123 min, USA, Dir: Bob Fosse

This intense, compelling musical based on the life of its director-choreographer-screenwriter, Bob Fosse, won the Palme D’Or at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival. Roy Scheider was Oscar-nominated for his performance (the film earned 9 nominations and 4 wins) as an obsessed, womanizing, pill-popping, chain-smoking Broadway choreographer and director who pays the ultimate price for his insane, creative lifestyle; kudos go to Ann Reinking playing his patient mistress. The movie probably has the only musical number set during open-heart surgery. With Jessica Lange, Cliff Gorman, Ben Vereen.

Screening formats: 35mm (CABARET), DCP (ALL THAT JAZZ)
