The American Cinematheque presents all of the 2019 Oscar-nominated live-action short films:

“A Sister” (Belgium, 16 min. Dir. Delphine Girard) A night. A car. Alie is in trouble. To get by she must make the most important call of her life.

“Brotherhood” (Tunisia, 25 min. Dir. Meryan Joobeur) A hardened shepherd living in rural Tunisia is deeply shaken when his oldest son returns home after a long journey with a mysterious new wife.

“The Neighbors’ Window” (USA, 20 min. Dir. Marshall Curry) A mother has grown frustrated with her daily routine and husband is shaken up when two free-spirited twenty-somethings move in across the street and she discovers that she can see into their apartment.

“Saria” (USA, 23 min. Dir. Bryan Buckley) The tale of two inseparable orphaned sisters as they fight against daily abuse and unimaginable hardship at Virgen de La Asuncion Safe Home in Guatemala.

“Nefta Football Club” (Tunisia/France, 17 min. Dir. Yves Piat) Two young brothers come across a donkey in the desert. Strangely, the animal is wearing headphones over its ears.
