A SUNDAY IN HELL
EN FORÅRSDAG I HELVEDE
1977, Det Danske Filminstitut, 111 min, Denmark, Dir: Jørgen Leth

This exciting documentary profiles the annual Paris–Roubaix bicycle race, a grueling one-day competition that challenges riders with some of the roughest, muddiest cobblestone paths in northern France. "Arguably the best film ever made about professional cycling" - Peter Cowie, International Film Guide. In Danish with English subtitles.

ALLEZ, EDDY!
2012, 100 min, Belgium, Dir: Gert Embrechts

For his feature debut, writer-director Gert Embrechts turns the clock back to 1975 in this charming family comedy. When the first supermarket arrives in his rural village, 11-year-old cycling fan Freddy (Jelte Blommaert) is thrilled to learn that there will be a bicycle race to promote the grand opening. The boy’s father is a butcher, and vehemently opposed to the new store and its competition, but the winner gets to meet cycling star Eddy Merckx - and that may be enough to lure Freddy into the race. In Dutch and French with English subtitles.
