2016, 20th Century Fox, 111 min, USA, Dir: John Hamburg

Parents Ned (Bryan Cranston) and Barb (Megan Mullally) take a trip to visit their daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) and her new boyfriend, Laird (James Franco), only to find themselves horrified when the tech billionaire, who does all the wrong things for all the right reasons, announces his plans to propose to her before the week is out. Thus begins an outrageous battle of wills between father and would-be fiancee.

2016, Paramount, 116 min, Dir: Richard Linklater

Writer-director Richard Linklater initially attended college on a baseball scholarship, and he revisits those freewheeling days in a spiritual sequel to DAZED AND CONFUSED. Freshman Jake (Blake Jenner) enjoys the freedoms of college while hanging out with a motley group of teammates at a Texas university in 1980. With a young ensemble cast that no doubt includes some future stars, this loose-limbed comedy captures a moment in life when good times and good friends are the only things that matter.
