2012, Teodora Film, 98 min, Italy, Dir: Giuseppe Piccioni

Giuseppe Piccioni's sharp institutional satire of a Roman public high school focuses on the clash between two teachers on opposite ends of the spectrum: the idealistic, hard-headed young Prezioso (Riccardo Scamarcio), who believes he can change his students BLACKBOARD JUNGLE-style, and the grouchy misanthrope Fiorito (Roberto Herlitzka), convinced of the world's unalterable stupidity. Add strict and goofily hypocritical headmistress Giuliana (Margherita Buy) into the mix and you've got an honest, bittersweet comedy of (educational) errors. In Italian with English subtitles.
