Off-Broadway director Christopher Guest goes to Blaine, Missouri, to put on a musical of the town’s history as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. The town’s most noteworthy moments include settlers taking root when their leader “smelled the salt air,” providing a stool for President William McKinley and a nearby flying saucer landing. The local characters who help stage the amateur musical include dentist Eugene Levy, travel agents Fred Willard and Catherine O’Hara and Dairy Queen waitress Parker Posey.
