ON THE ROCKS
2020, Apple Original Films, 96 min, USA, Dir: Sofia Coppola

Laura (Rashida Jones) thinks she’s happily hitched, but when her husband Dean (Marlon Wayans) starts logging late hours at the office with a new co-worker, Laura begins to fear the worst. She turns to the one man she suspects may have insight: her charming, impulsive father Felix (Bill Murray), who insists they investigate the situation. As the two begin prowling New York at night, careening from uptown parties to downtown hotspots, they discover at the heart of their journey lies their own relationship. Acclaimed filmmaker Sofia Coppola brings a light touch to this blend of an exuberant love letter to New York, a generation-clash comedy about how we see relationships differently from our parents, and a funny celebration of the complications that bind modern families even as they tie us in crazy knots.

THE DEAD DON’T DIE
2019, Focus Features, 103 min, USA/Sweden, Dir: Jim Jarmusch

In the sleepy small town of Centerville, something is not quite right. The moon hangs large and low in the sky, the hours of daylight are becoming unpredictable and animals are beginning to exhibit unusual behaviors. But no one foresees the strangest and most dangerous repercussion that will soon start plaguing Centerville: The Dead Don't Die - they rise from their graves and savagely attack and feast on the living, and the citizens of the town must battle for their survival. The horror comedy features the greatest zombie cast ever disassembled, including Jarmusch regulars (Bill Murray, Adam Driver, Chloë Sevigny, Tilda Swinton, Iggy Pop, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits) and newcomers to the fold (Selena Gomez, Danny Glover, Caleb Landry Jones, Carol Kane) in a raucous, rueful and satirical glimpse at American habits and desires at the end of the world.

ISLE OF DOGS
2018, Fox Searchlight, 101 min, USA/Germany, Dir: Wes Anderson

When, by executive decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to a vast garbage dump, Atari sets off alone in a miniature Junior Turbo Prop and flies to Trash Island in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of a pack of newly found mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire prefecture. The star-studded voice cast includes Frances McDormand, Scarlett Johansson, Greta Gerwig, Bryan Cranston, Bill Murray and Jeff Goldblum.
