TUCKER AND DALE VS EVIL
2020, Magnet Releasing, 89 min, Canada, Dir: Eli Craig

This hilariously gory, good-spirited horror comedy does for killer rednecks what SHAUN OF THE DEAD did for zombies. Tucker and Dale are two best friends on vacation at their dilapidated mountain house who are mistaken for murderous backwoods hillbillies by a group of obnoxious, preppy college kids. When one of the students gets separated from her friends, the boys try to lend a hand, but as the misunderstanding grows, so does the body count. Tyler Labine and Alan Tudy excel as the titular antiheroes, whose attempts to enjoy their holiday are punctuated by eye-poppingly violent set pieces.

CON MAN
2015, Lionsgate, 156 min, USA, Dir: Alan Tudyk

Writer-director Alan Tudyk’s experiences as part of TV’s “Firefly” helped inspire this web series, in which he stars as actor Wray Nerely, whose stint on a similar cult series has led him to the sci-fi convention circuit. Along with Nathan Fillion (as a former costar whose career has eclipsed Nerely’s) and Mindy Sterling (as Nerely’s agent), this funny-but-affectionate peek behind the curtains of Comic-Con Nation features many familiar faces in cameo appearances.
