Join us for a weekend salute to this masticating menagerie which also includes PIRANHA, TINTORERA: KILLER SHARK, ALLIGATOR and a sneak preview of Larry Fessenden’s new horror-on-the-water thriller, BENEATH.

Created by Universal, the patented process of Sensurround pumped up the bass frequencies during action sequences so that audiences didn’t just hear sound vibrations, they felt them. Whole theaters rumbled when seismic disaster struck in EARTHQUAKE, thanks to specially installed speakers reaching frequencies below what the human ear can hear but powerful enough to be felt. Extra speakers will be installed in the theater to recreate the authentic effect for our Sensurround screenings, which also include BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!

Mon, May 20, 2013 - Wed, Oct 9, 2013

In the coming months, the American Cinematheque will pay tribute to Roger Ebert with screenings of his favorite films, beginning with THE TREE OF LIFE, VERTIGO and CITIZEN KANE.
