Art Deco Society of Los Angeles Historic Lecture Series 2015
90th Anniversary!
Presented by the American Cinematheque and the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles

THE GOLD RUSH premiered at the Egyptian Theatre 90 years ago. Sid Grauman consulted for Chaplin, since he and his father had actually participated in the Gold Rush! Chaplin is rumored to be making an appearance for photo opportunities.

Join us in the courtyard both before and after the film to "pan for gold" and to engage in snowball fights! Chaplin himself is rumored to be making an appearance so bring your cameras!
1925, Janus Films, 72 min, USA, Dir: Charles Chaplin

Coming off his first major financial failure, A WOMAN OF PARIS, writer-director Charlie Chaplin responded with what many consider his finest feature-length film. The Lone Prospector (Chaplin) travels to the far-off Yukon in search of gold but ends up falling in love with dance-hall girl Georgia Hale. The classic "dance of the dinner rolls" and "boiled shoe leather" scenes show Chaplin’s gift for poignant comedy at its very best.

Screening format: 35mm
