Free Event
Stanley Rubin Memorial / THE NARROW MARGIN

This is a free event open to the public.

Family and friends of the late writer-producer Stanley Rubin will gather at the Egyptian Theatre to celebrate a wonderful gentleman who was a great friend of the American Cinematheque and an important figure in Hollywood history. In addition to his distinguished screenwriting and production credits that include DECOY, MACAO, THE NARROW MARGIN, DESTINATION GOBI, RIVER OF NO RETURN and THE PRESIDENT'S ANALYST, Stanley was a pioneer in early television who won one of the first Emmy awards and continued on to a long and fruitful career producing outstanding television shows and movies.

A screening of THE NARROW MARGIN will follow at 3PM with an introduction by Alan K. Rode.

A reception will follow the film in the Egyptian lobby.
1952, Warner Bros., 71 min, USA, Dir: Richard Fleischer

This film always receives its share of votes as one of the finest noirs ever made - and the spiciest of its many ingredients is the unforgettable Marie Windsor. She and co-star Charles McGraw trade priceless purple putdowns as he ferries her on the rails from Chicago to L.A., where she’s scheduled to testify in a racket-busting trial. Plenty of switchbacks along the way, rendered with maximum punch and pace by director Richard Fleischer and producer Stanley Rubin. Also starring Jacqueline White.

Screening format: 35mm
