Our eighth annual collection of inspiring and diverse shorts covering comedy, drama, animation and documentary genres from Los Angeles-based directors.
Program includes:
Sarah Smith’s “Black Hat” (14 min.) A pious Hasidic man in Los Angeles will have to face up to his double-life when he misplaces his hat.
Cameron Gavinski’s “Frank” (9 min.) A hilarious animated take on a domesticated Frankenstein and his father.
Sanford Jenkins Jr.’s “A Craftsman” (13 min.) Overcome with grief, a rural woodworker builds a coffin.
Michael Giacchino’s “Monster Challenge” (13 min.) The Oscar-winning composer of UP directs this infectiously silly short starring Patton Oswalt and paying tribute to the eccentricities of Japanese game shows and monster films.
Chrissie De Guzman’s “Throuple” (19 min.) A not-so-great stripper makes a house call to a progressive and all have challenges and changes in the way they see life, love and their sexuality.
Lagueria Davis’ ”Light in Dark Places” (11 min). In this evocative, moving short, a mother makes a shocking discovery when she's left to pack up her daughter's house after a tragic car accident.
Will Kindrick’s “Storm” (11 min.) A creative and funny look at the near future when the government dating app malfunctions.

Discussion after the screening with filmmakers Sarah Smith ("Black Hat"), Cameron Gavinkski ("Frank"), Elise Brown ("A Craftsman"), Michael Giacchino ("Monster Challenge"), Chrissie De Guzman ("Throuple"), Lagueria Davis ("Light in Dark Places") and Will Kindrick ("Storm").
