HEROIC LOSERS
LA ODISEA DE LOS GILES
2019, 116 min, Argentina/Spain, Dir: Sebastián Borensztein

Ricardo Darín and son Chino team onscreen for the first time in this crowd-pleasing heist comedy, Argentina’s official Oscar submission for International Film. Set at the end of 2001, it centers on a group of townspeople who pool their money to set up an agricultural cooperative only to lose it all in the country’s banking crisis (the “corralito”). But when they learn they’d been set up by a banker, the motley crew devise a plan to steal back what’s rightfully theirs. With Luis Brandoni.

WHITE BLOOD
SANGRE BLANCA
2018, 96 min, Argentina, Dir: Barbara Sarasola-Day

A drug-trade thriller set on the Bolivia-Argentina border, WHITE BLOOD follows Martina (Eva De Dominici), a reluctant drug mule whose illegal operation comes crashing down after her partner perishes while handling their dangerous product. With the local traffickers on her tail, Martina turns to the only person left in the world who can help - her estranged father. Director Barbara Sarasola-Day (BELATED) returns with this impressive balancing act that is both a pulse-pounding thriller and a touching father-daughter drama. Winner of the Jury Prize at the 2018 Macau Film Festival.
