Co-presented by the Goethe-Institut Los Angeles, in cooperation with Austrian Consulate General and the Consulate General of Switzerland; with support of Deutsche Welle (DW), German Films, The Friends of Goethe, and ELMA.
American audiences have been treated to an amazing spectrum of German films over the years. The past decade has been no exception. Having won two Oscars® for Best Foreign Language Film and having been nominated six times in the last ten years is proof that German films are a force on the international film scene. The Goethe-Institut Los Angeles is delighted that German Currents: Festival of German Film is back for the seventh annual showcase at the American Cinematheque's Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
German Currents: Festival of German Film will begin with an opening film and gala on the evening of Friday, October 4th, 2013. Continuing through Monday, October 7th, German Currents will present a varied selection of current German cinema; including features, documentaries, short films, as well as a family matinee of THE ADVENTURES OF HUCK FINN, presented with an opportunity to create cinema magic with Echo Park Film Center's "Filmicle," a film school on a bicycle.
