Joey Izzo In Person! Live Music!
Family Values Tour: New and Selected Short Films by Joey Izzo
Hosted by Kate Berlant and Power Violence

Award-winning writer-director Joey Izzo has screened his films at top festivals worldwide, including Cannes, the New York Film Festival and the San Francisco International Film Festival. Largely inspired by the pointed naturalism of Maurice Pialat, the modernist tension of Michael Haneke and the keen observational humor of John Hughes, Izzo’s work has been called “sharply focused,” “sensitive” and “sardonic.” Izzo’s films have remained criminally unseen theatrically by those in his adopted hometown of Los Angeles - until now! Featuring shorts from the past six years of Izzo’s filmmaking career, the night will also serve as the premiere of his latest, “I Was There Too,” plus a rarely-screened experimental collaboration with esteemed musician-composer John Zorn. Join comedy collective Power Violence and magnetic improv comedian Kate Berlant as they host an evening of new and selected shorts by their dear friend.

Program includes a live performance by Fryborg (cosmic analog synth improvisations from Matt Jones of Castle Face Records and Male Gaze).
90 minutes. | Screening format: DCP. | Tickets: $10.
