“Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” When a new student (Ethan Hawke) arrives at an exclusive East Coast prep school in 1959, he and his roommate (Robert Sean Leonard) are encouraged to think for themselves by new English teacher John Keating (Robin Williams), whose unusual approach runs afoul of the school’s headmaster (Norman Lloyd).
