THIS IS NOT A TEST
1962, 73 min, USA, Dir: Fredric Gadette

A low-budget standout of the ’50s and early-’60s nuclear holocaust genre, THIS IS NOT A TEST follows a group of ordinary citizens as they react to the news of their impending doom. The chaos begins when a lone policeman stops all highway traffic, informing motorists of the outbreak of nuclear war. With little time, the group’s only chance is to convert one of the drivers’ supply trucks into an impromptu bomb shelter. With a cast of mostly unknown actors, Fredric Gadette’s one and only film is a thrilling yet serious reflection of the collective anxieties during the Cold War.
