2018, 79 min, USA, Dir: Lorene Mills, Paul Barnes, David Leach

Internationally renowned best-selling New Mexico author Max Evans (THE HI-LO COUNTRY, THE ROUNDERS) has also been a prospector, film producer, soldier, artist and calf-roping cowboy. This documentary about the 93-year-old Renaissance man is a fast-paced ride though changing times in which Max tells stories of movie studio executives, ranching, publishing houses, brawls with Hollywood friends such as director Sam Peckinpah, spiritual encounters with animals, tales of the American West and more. Episodes from Evans’ life are illuminated by interviews with friends, colleagues and Max himself, with acclaimed actors Peter Coyote and Sam Elliott lending their voices as narrator and reader, respectively.
