CON MAN
2015, Lionsgate, 156 min, USA, Dir: Alan Tudyk

Writer-director Alan Tudyk’s experiences as part of TV’s “Firefly” helped inspire this web series, in which he stars as actor Wray Nerely, whose stint on a similar cult series has led him to the sci-fi convention circuit. Along with Nathan Fillion (as a former costar whose career has eclipsed Nerely’s) and Mindy Sterling (as Nerely’s agent), this funny-but-affectionate peek behind the curtains of Comic-Con Nation features many familiar faces in cameo appearances.

SLITHER
2006, Universal, 95 min, USA, Dir: James Gunn

When a meteorite crashes near Wheelsy, South Carolina, it brings with it an extraterrestrial parasite that worms its way into Michael Rooker (THE WALKING DEAD), whose tentacled transformation puts the entire town in jeopardy. In his feature debut, Troma alumnus James Gunn (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY) strikes just the right balance between horror and comedy, with tongue-in-cheek nods to B-movie favorites mixed with shots that would give David Cronenberg the creeps. With Nathan Fillion (SERENITY) and Elizabeth Banks.
