UNCLE BUCK
1989, Universal, 100 min, USA, Dir: John Hughes

John Candy plays the irrepressible title character in this comedy from writer-director John Hughes. When Bob and Cindy Russell need to leave their new home in Chicago to deal with a family emergency, they reluctantly turn to Bob’s brother Buck to watch the children for a few days. While Uncle Buck is hardly a role model - he makes his living betting on rigged horse races - he proves remarkably adept with kids. Costarring Amy Madigan, Gaby Hoffmann and Macaulay Culkin, whom Hughes would leave HOME ALONE a year later.
