Panel Discussions On Production Design!

Sun, Apr 27, 2014 - Wed, Aug 27, 2014

Join us at the American Cinematheque for the 2014 installment of our Art Directors Guild Film Society monthly screenings. Kicking off the series is an evening of episodes from the classic British TV series “The Prisoner,” followed in coming months by such richly visualized feature films as THE DEVILS and MONSIEUR VERDOUX.

Thu, Apr 10, 2014 - Fri, May 16, 2014

We delve deeper into the Hitchcock canon with a program mixing popular favorites (NORTH BY NORTHWEST, SHADOW OF A DOUBT and THE BIRDS) with numerous rarities (domestic drama THE SKIN GAME, marital satire RICH AND STRANGE, screwball comedy MR. & MRS. SMITH and much more)!

Nicolas Cage In Person!

Fri, Apr 4, 2014 - Sun, Apr 6, 2014

Nicolas Cage continues to prove himself one of the few major Hollywood stars of his generation who moves easily from megawatt mainstream movies to challenging independent projects. Join us for a tribute to his work, where he'll join us in person with an advance screening of JOE and alongside Werner Herzog with THE BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL - NEW ORLEANS.

Josiane Balasko In Person!

Tue, Apr 1, 2014 - Wed, Apr 2, 2014

Paris-born Josiane Balasko began in film as an actress in the mid-1970s and soon was writing dialogue as well as delivering it; by the next decade, she’d begun directing, too. While her long list of performance credits spans a wide variety of films (one of her three Best Actress César nominations was for a mystery, HANGING OFFENSE), as a filmmaker, Balasko has carved out a niche in comedy - particularly comedy that deals with relationships. She joins us for the L.A. premiere of her new film DEMI-SOEUR. FRENCH TWIST and A FRENCH GIGOLO also screen.

Fri, Mar 14, 2014 - Thu, Mar 27, 2014

Writing about Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 - February 2, 2014) after his untimely death, The New York Times called him “perhaps the most ambitious and widely admired American actor of his generation.” Join us for a retrospective of his work on film, including THE MASTER, CAPOTE, MAGNOLIA, THE SAVAGES, and SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK.
